Encouraging the Light of Wellbeing
About Us
Encouraging the Light of Wellbeing is a virtual peer-led movement. Peers participate safely from across the nation. The mental health system is broken in fundamental ways. While many can afford the best care, many others can not. All ELW services are free.

Mission Statement
Encouraging the Light of Wellbeing is a virtual peer-led movement supporting the wellbeing of peers through the intersection of art and wellness practices.
What is a Peer?
A peer is someone who has lived experience with a mental health condition, substance misuse condition, psychological trauma, a loss survivor, and/or a life-threatening despair survivor.
What is Peer Support?
Broadly defined, "peer support" refers to a process through which people who share common experiences or face similar challenges come together as equals to give and receive support based on the knowledge that comes through shared experience (Reissman, 1989). "Support" expresses the kind of deeply felt empathy, encouragement, and assistance that people with shared experiences can offer one another within a reciprocal relationship.
Adult peers (18 years or older) of all races, ethnicities, abilities, and identities are eligible for Our Programs.
